Kuwaiti women finally get the vote

"and end up voting for men"

The Harpoville Post has learned that for the first time in Kuwaiti history women have the right to vote. Although they are voting in a small byelection for city council, the women of Kuwait see this as a first step.

The Harpoville Post spoke to one woman waiting for her turn to vote while standing under a sign reading; Women and Caterers Entrance, and she told us, "We are very excited that finally there is a voice for women in our country." we asked her what are the changes she's seen so far, "We are seeing more clean cut candidates than anytime in Kuwaiti history."

The Harpoville Post reports that although women have won the right to vote in this Middle East country the men here are against the change. We spoke to one man who wished to remain unidentified incase his wife found out, and he said, "I told my wife if she leaves the house I'll have her beheaded and if she even thinks of voting I'll have her beheaded, but, if she votes for any other candidate than who I'm voting for O'my god, I don't know what I'm going to do."

The Harpoville Post learned that there are two women running in this election a 32 year old poison food taster and a 48 year old women with 24 children. News of who is winning the election has not been released but, the women aren't expected to be ahead in the polls.
